A
child’s resilience versus mine-
He got screamed at
and he stubbornly stood his ground
while I silently in a lone corner
wiped my tears away;
Helplessly.
Screams and shouts often reverberate
off these walls, directed at
somebody or another
a child or a mother
These booming voices; this noise
I wish to obliterate.
A calm serene habitat
Too much to ask for, on this earthen mat?
Bow and prostrate, repeat and repeat
With an urgency inexplicable
I supplicate as I speak
To the creator of this mess.
